Family Focus

Build in a history lesson for your next BC trip and it will be one enjoyed by all members of the family from grandparents to children. As part of the circle farm tours in the Fraser Valley, visit Limbert Mountain Farm to see what more than 100 years of farming can produce. Adults will love the fresh herb tours and cider tastings. A true throwback to Northern BC’s early days is Huble Homestead, an original log cabin is located at this location just outside Prince George. Kids will love exploring the general store, blacksmith shop, and restored First Nations fish camp. Get to know the province by the fine beverages available in some of the BC’s oldest drinking establishments. The oldest bar is the Six Mile Pub where for more than 161 years (with the exception of prohibition) you can partake in a frosty beer. Or   sip the recent award winning Oak Bay Pinto Noir from St. Hubertus Estate Winery near Kelowna – since 1928 these farmers have been using organic techniques. And it’s rude not visit the Hume Hotel for a cocktail when you are in Nelson. Since 1898 spirits and beer have been served in this popular establishment. These and many more cocktails can be found throughout the province, have fun tasting!  

Find Your Famous British Columbians

From the hallowed hallways of Emily Carr House in Victoria to the “Big House” at Fort Langley where the Father of British Columbia James Douglas held the ceremony proclaiming the establishment of British Columbia, the characters from BC’s past touched all corners of the province. Or trace the roots of newer provincial celebrities - Bryan Adams, Pamela Anderson and Steve Nash - are a part of BC’s heritage and have ties to the province’s roots. 

Festivals and Events

Celebrate the best of BC’s heritage at the many festivals and events held annually throughout the province. From the Prince George Exhibition (known by locals as the PGX) which started in 1912, to the George Fraser Day & Heritage Fair in Ucluelet, there are festivals throughout the province which have been running for decades and are an important part of the province’s history.

Each region of the province is bursting with opportunities to learn a bit about BC’s past in a fun and interactive way.
